ABOUT BDR, INC

BDR is a homeland security and emergency preparedness and disaster resiliency firm dedicated to helping clients prepare for, respond to, recover from and mitigate against natural and man-made disasters. The firm is organized into three separate, but related practices covering the full spectrum of homeland security and emergency mitigation, preparedness planning and disaster response and recovery.

The Emergency Management Consulting practice has worked with local, state and federal government agencies of all sizes, ranging from the nation's largest metropolitan urban areas to rural communities, providing emergency planning, continuity planning, risk assessment/mitigation, training and exercise design services.  Since 2001, the firm has supported more than 200 collaborative planning projects for emergency management planning, evacuation planning and public health preparedness planning and training and exercising, while ensuring compliance with federal, state and industry standards.

The Post-Event Program Management practice provides clients with the full range of response and recovery services, including comprehensive program management, disaster debris removal contracting and negotiations, damage assessments, critical infrastructure evaluation and protection, staff augmentation and FEMA/NRCS/FHWA and other funding reimbursement support, as well as all aspects of field debris monitoring.  In anticipation of the projected landfall of Hurricane Ike, BDR began mobilizing key project management staff, as well as the equipment and personnel needed to begin recovery operations and worked with key clients in their Emergency Operations Centers through the storm's passing.  Within 10 days of the strike, BDR had deployed 3,000 staff, which ramped up to over 3,500 throughout the Gulf Coast in response to Hurricanes Dolly, Gustav and Ike.

BDR created its Financial Recovery Services division to provide the ultimate financial recovery solution for state and local governments, tribal institutions and certain non-profit organizations.  Unlike other "recovery" entities that provide only one or two financial recovery services, BDR provides well-trained subject matter experts with the knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to navigate programs such as the FEMA Public Assistance program, Hazard Mitigation Grant program (HMGP), Natural Resources Conservations Services program (NRCS), Community Development Block Grant program (CDBG), and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Housing and Urban Development (HUD) consulting, private insurance adjusting and state recovery program support before, during and after a disaster.
